About Barona Reservation, California

The Barona Reservation is located in the eastern part of San Diego County, California. It is approximately 18 miles northeast of downtown San Diego and about 30 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The reservation has a land area of 18,766 acres and is home to the Barona Band of Mission Indians.

The Barona Band of Mission Indians is a federally recognized tribe of Kumeyaay people. The tribe has about 1,400 enrolled members. The Barona Reservation was established in 1891 by Executive Order of President Benjamin Harrison. The Barona Casino & Hotel is located on the reservation and is owned and operated by the tribe.

The Barona Casino & Hotel features over 2,000 slot machines, 75 table games, a hotel with 200 rooms, and several restaurants. The casino is one of the largest employers in San Diego County, with over 2,000 employees. The tribe also owns and operates the Barona Resort & Golf Club, which is located adjacent to the casino.

The Barona Resort & Golf Club features a 27-hole golf course, a spa, and several restaurants. The tribe also operates the Sycuan Casino & Resort, which is located on the Sycuan Reservation in El Cajon, California.
