Charleston View is a census-designated place (CDP) in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 5,674 at the 2010 census. It is located 3 miles (4.8 km) northeast of downtown Martinez and 20 miles (32 km) northeast of San Francisco.

The area now known as Charleston View was originally inhabited by the Ohlone people. In 1823, the town of Martinez was founded by Colonel John D. Sloat, and the area became part of the Rancho El Pinole Mexican land grant. In 1847, the area was ceded to the United States as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo following the Mexican-American War.

In 1849, a sawmill was built on the banks of Alhambra Creek, and Charleston View began to grow as a lumber town. In 1851, a post office was established, and the town was officially named Charleston. In 1870, the population of Charleston was reported as 100.

In 1879, Natural Gas and Petroleum Company built a refinery in Charleston View, which helped to spur growth in the area. By 1900, the population had grown to 1,000, and Charleston View had become a thriving community with businesses, schools, churches, and a library.

Today, Charleston View is a diverse community with a population of over 5,000. The town is home to a variety of businesses and amenities, including restaurants, shops, parks, and schools. Charleston View is also a popular destination for outdoor recreation, with its proximity to Mount Diablo State Park and Alhambra Creek.
