About Soboba Reservation and Off-Reservation Trust Land, California
The Soboba Reservation and Off-Reservation Trust Land are located in Southern California, east of Los Angeles. The Soboba tribe is a federally recognized tribe of Luiseño Indians. The reservation was created by the United States government in 1883, and it is currently about 2,200 acres large. There are about 1,100 members of the Soboba tribe living on the reservation.
The Soboba tribe has a long history of involvement with the United States government. In the early 1800s, the tribe signed a treaty with the US government which granted them a small reservation near their village of San Jacinto. However, in 1883, the government created a much larger reservation for the tribe, which displaced them from their homes.
