Sierra Madre is a small city in Los Angeles County, California. The city is located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, about 10 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles. Sierra Madre was founded in 1881 by a group of settlers from Texas. The city was named after the nearby Sierra Madre mountain range. Sierra Madre is a Spanish word meaning “mother mountain.” The city was incorporated in 1907.

Sierra Madre is home to the historic Sierra Madre Villa Hotel, which was built in 1924. The hotel is a popular destination for weddings and special events. Sierra Madre also has a number of parks and recreation areas, including the Sierra Madre Wilderness Park.
