Grimes CDP is a census-designated place in Glenn County, California. The population was 1,259 at the 2010 census. Grimes is located along State Route 45 14 miles (23 km) northwest of Willows, at an elevation of 118 feet (36 m).
Grimes was originally settled by ranchers in the 1850s. The town was named after one of the early settlers, James Grimes. A post office opened in Grimes in 1871.
Today, Grimes is a small farming community. Agriculture is the main industry in the area, with crops such as rice, wheat, and corn being grown. There are also a few businesses in town, including a gas station and a grocery store.
