El Dorado Hills is a census-designated place (CDP) in El Dorado County, California, United States. The population was 42,108 at the 2010 census, up from 18,016 at the 2000 census. The CDP consists of two distinct communities which have separated since incorporation in 1967. The community of El Dorado Hills is located on the area’s high ground and has a relatively affluent population. The second community is located around Lake Forest and has a more blue-collar feel.

The two communities are separated by Highway 50, which bisects the CDP. The northern part of the CDP, which includes the area around Lake Forest, is sometimes referred to as “Hillsborough”, while the southern part is known as “Village Center”. Both parts of the CDP are served by the same ZIP code (95762).

El Dorado Hills is part of the Sacramento–Arden-Arcade–Roseville Metropolitan Statistical Area.
