Goodyears Bar CDP, California is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sierra County, California, United States. The population was 94 at the 2010 census, down from 120 at the 2000 census.
The Goodyears Bar post office opened in 1851. The name honors John Augustus Sutter, Jr., whose father had granted the land to him. A sawmill was built here in 1852.
In 1856, gold was discovered at Mormon Creek. A mining camp developed, which later became the town of Goodyears Bar. By 1860, the town had a population of 1,000. A fire in 1874 destroyed much of the town, and it never recovered.
Today, Goodyears Bar is a quiet community with a population of just over 90 people. It is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, about 60 miles northeast of Sacramento. There are several small businesses in town, including a general store and a bar. The town is popular with hikers and campers who come to enjoy the beautiful scenery and recreation opportunities in the area.
