About Crows Landing CDP, California

Crows Landing CDP, California is a census-designated place (CDP) in Stanislaus County, California, United States. The population was 2,803 at the 2010 census, up from 2,722 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Modesto Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Crows Landing CDP includes the unincorporated community of Crows Landing and the surrounding area. The community is located on the southeast side of California’s Central Valley, about 10 miles (16 km) east of Modesto and 85 miles (137 km) east of San Francisco.

The area was originally settled by farmers in the late 19th century. The community was named for the abundance of crows in the area. The crows were attracted to the fields where the farmers grew wheat and other crops.

In recent years, Crows Landing has become a bedroom community for people who work in Modesto and other nearby cities. Many of the residents are employed in agriculture or related industries.

The community is served by the Crows Landing Airport and the Crows Landing Unified School District.
