Sierraville CDP is located in northeastern Sierra County at 39°22′20″N 120°17′57″W / 39.37222°N 120.29917°W / 39.37222; -120.29917, at an elevation of 4,147 feet (1,265 m). It is bordered to the northeast by the town of Sierraville, the county seat. Interstate 80 passes through the southern part of the CDP, with access from Exit 164. I-80 leads east over the Sierra Nevada to Reno, Nevada, and west 154 miles (248 km) to Sacramento.
