Nevada County is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, about an hour east of Sacramento. The county seat is Grass Valley. The county has a population of about 98,000 people.
The county is home to the University of California, Davis and Sierra College. There are also a number of historical landmarks in the county, including the Empire Mine State Historic Park and the North Star House.
