Dutch Flat is a small community located in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Placer County, California. The town is situated on Highway 40, approximately halfway between Auburn and Truckee. Dutch Flat was founded in 1851 and named after the Dutch immigrants who settled in the area. The town was originally a mining camp, but later became a stopover for stagecoaches and freight wagons traveling between Sacramento and the Comstock Lode in Nevada. Today, Dutch Flat is a popular destination for recreation and tourism, with many visitors coming to enjoy the town’s historic charm and natural beauty.
