About Lake Hughes CDP, California
Lake Hughes is a census-designated place (CDP) in the Antelope Valley and one of the county seats of Los Angeles County, California. The population was 2,829 at the 2010 census, up from 1,953 at the 2000 census.
The community is located on the west side of the San Andreas Fault, which lies along the eastern edge of the community. Lake Hughes was originally settled as a stagecoach stop and farming community named Hobson in 1912. The name was later changed to Hughes in honor of Judge Griffith J. Hughes, who owned a large ranch in the area.
The Lake Hughes community is home to a number of interesting attractions, including the William S. Hart Museum and Park, which features a collection of Western art and artifacts; and the Antelope Valley Winery, which offers tastings and tours of its facilities.
