About Forest Ranch CDP, California
Forest Ranch is a census-designated place (CDP) in Butte County, California, United States. The population was 1,708 at the 2010 census, up from 1,541 at the 2000 census. It is included in the Chico Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The town is located along Highway 32 near its junction with Highway 36, about 10mi east of downtown Chico. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 5.3sqmi, all of it land.
The community was founded in the late 19th century as a lumber town and was originally named Forest Mills. It was later renamed Forest Ranch after the establishment of a U.S. post office in 1902.
