About Lytle Creek CDP, California
Lytle Creek is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 12,770 at the 2010 census, up from 10,435 at the 2000 census. It is located along Lytle Creek, west of Interstate 15.
The area now known as Lytle Creek was originally inhabited by the Tongva people. The first Europeans to settle in the area were Missionaries from Spain, who established a mission in the 18th century. In the 19th century, the area became part of Rancho San Bernardino, a large rancho that encompassed much of what is now San Bernardino County.
After the Mexican-American War, the rancho was divided up and sold off to American settlers. Lytle Creek was named after one of these settlers, John Lytle. The area became known for its gold mines, and prospectors flocked to the area in search of riches.
Today, Lytle Creek is a suburban community in the Inland Empire region of Southern California. It is home to several parks and recreation areas, as well as a golf course. The Lytle Creek Community Center offers a variety of programs and services for residents.
