About Millville CDP, California
Millville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Shasta County, California, United States. The population was 1,558 at the 2010 census, up from 1,394 at the 2000 census. It is located on the Pit River, northeast of Redding.
The town of Millville was founded in 1852 by Isaac Doolittle and John Bidwell, two pioneers who arrived in the area during the California Gold Rush. The town grew quickly, and by 1856 it had a population of over 500. However, the town was largely destroyed by a flood in 1862, and many of its residents left for other areas.
Today, Millville is a small community with a population of just over 1,500. The town has a number of historic buildings and sites, including the old mill site which is now a museum. Millville is also home to a number of businesses and organizations, including the Millville Volunteer Fire Department.
