About Saranap CDP, California
Saranap is a small census-designated place (CDP) in Contra Costa County, California, United States. It is located in the San Ramon Valley, east of Danville and west of Walnut Creek. The population was 3,208 at the 2010 census.
The community was originally settled by Mormon pioneers in the 1850s and was known as Smith’s Settlement. It was later renamed after William Saranap, who owned much of the land in the area during the late 19th century.
Today, Saranap is a quiet residential community with little commercial development. The Saranap Elementary School serves the community. Residents are served by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District.
