Shingle Springs is a census-designated place (CDP) in El Dorado County, California, United States. The population was 4,432 at the 2010 census, up from 3,640 at the 2000 census. It is located about 40 miles (64 km) east of Sacramento, on U.S. Route 50.
The town is named for the many springs found in the area that are surrounded by shingles. The springs were used by the Native Americans and later by settlers for their healing properties. The first post office was established in 1854.
The town is home to several businesses, including a winery, a brewery, and a distillery. There are also several bed and breakfast inns and restaurants. The town is a popular destination for visitors to the nearby Sierra Nevada foothills.
