About Foresthill CDP, California
Foresthill is a census-designated place (CDP) in Placer County, California, United States. It is located within the Auburn State Recreation Area, northeast of Auburn. The population was 1,483 at the 2010 census.
The town of Foresthill was founded in 1856 and was originally known as Forest Hill. The first post office opened in 1858. The name was changed to Foresthill in 1890.
The area around Foresthill was heavily mined for gold during the California Gold Rush. Today, the town is a popular destination for outdoor recreation, including hiking, camping, and fishing.
