About Homeland CDP, California
Homeland is a census-designated place (CDP) in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 3,276 at the 2010 census, up from 1,977 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Coachella Valley and includes one private and two public schools.
The area now known as Homeland was originally inhabited by the Cahuilla people. In 1876, the Southern Pacific Railroad built a line through the area, and a post office was established in 1884. The community was originally named “Lane”, after Southern Pacific Railroad official John J. Lane. The name was changed to “Homeland” in 1915.
Homeland is located in northwestern Riverside County at 33°53′17″N 117°24′16″W / 33.888194°N 117.404444°W / 33.888194; -117.404444, at an elevation of 1008 feet (307 m). It is bordered to the north by the city of Menifee, to the east by Perris, to the south by Romoland, and to the west by Nuevo.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Homeland has a total area of 6.6 square miles (17 km2), all land.
