About Calpella CDP, California
Calpella is a census-designated place (CDP) in Mendocino County, California, United States. The population was 1,040 at the 2010 census, up from 990 at the 2000 census. Calpella is located along U.S. Route 101 5mi northwest of Ukiah, at an elevation of 734 feet (224 m).
The town was laid out in 1856 by James Weaver and named after Rancho Calpella, a Mexican land grant of 1844. A post office opened in 1860. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.8 square miles (7.2 km2), all of it land.
