Columbia CDP, California is a census-designated place located in Tuolumne County, California. The population was 1,731 at the 2010 census. Columbia is a historic gold mining town that was founded in 1850. The town became a National Historic Landmark in 1961. Columbia State Historic Park, which includes much of the town, is one of California’s oldest state parks.
The town of Columbia is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, about halfway between Sacramento and Reno, Nevada. The town is situated on the Tuolumne River, which flows through the center of town. The river is a popular spot for fishing, swimming, and rafting. There are also several hiking trails in the area.
