South Monrovia Island is a census-designated place (CDP) in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 1,291 at the 2010 census, up from 1,287 at the 2000 census.

The CDP includes the neighborhoods of Mayflower Village and Bradbury Estates, which are adjacent to each other and share a common history. In 1887, William Monroe bought 2,200 acres (8.9 km2) of the rancho, which he subdivided into small farms and sold to settlers from the East Coast.

The area remained rural until the 1950s, when developers began building housing tracts in Bradbury Estates. Mayflower Village was developed starting in 1954. It was originally an exclusive gated community, but the gates were removed in the 1970s.

Today, South Monrovia Island is a largely residential community with a mix of single-family homes, apartments, and condominiums. There are a few commercial businesses, including a grocery store and a gas station. The Island Garden Center is a popular destination for residents and visitors alike.
