Cherryland is a census-designated place (CDP) in Alameda County, California, United States. It is located between the cities of Hayward and San Leandro, and lies east of Oakland. The population was 14,536 at the 2010 census.
Cherryland was originally settled by farmers of German and Italian descent who came to the area in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to farm the land. cherries were grown in the area and shipped out to markets in San Francisco and other cities. The climate and soil were well-suited for cherry cultivation, and the area soon became known as Cherryland.
In recent years, Cherryland has become increasingly suburbanized as housing developments have been built. However, there are still many farms in the area, and cherries are still grown and shipped out from Cherryland. The community retains its small-town feel and is a great place to raise a family.
