Lee Vining is a census-designated place (CDP) in Mono County, California, United States. The population was 2,122 at the 2010 census, up from 1,651 at the 2000 census.
The town is located on the southwest shore of Mono Lake. It was named after Miner Lee, who established a station here in 1852. Lee Vining is located 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Yosemite National Park and 37 miles (60 km) north of Mammoth Lakes.
The primary economic activity of Lee Vining is tourism. The town serves as a gateway to the Mono Basin National Scenic Area and the eastern Sierra Nevada. Popular activities include fishing, boating, hiking, and photography.
