About Highgrove CDP, California

Highgrove is a census-designated place (CDP) in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 10,912 at the 2010 census, up from 8,006 at the 2000 census. Highgrove is located along State Route 60 and Interstate 215, east of Riverside.

The community of Highgrove was established in 1887 by William D. Hobson, who planted vineyards and developed the area as a farming community. The Highgrove post office opened in 1893. In the early 1900s, peaches were the primary crop grown in the area. A cooperative cannery was built in 1916, and by 1918 the community had a population of 500.

Highgrove was originally part of San Timoteo Township, but was annexed by the city of Riverside in 1965.
