Dogtown CDP, California is a census-designated place (CDP) in Marin County, California, United States. It is located 3.5 miles (5.6 km) south-southeast of downtown Novato, at an elevation of 36 feet (11 m). The population was 4,763 at the 2010 census.
Dogtown was originally a blue-collar town inhabited mostly by Italian and Portuguese immigrants who worked in the nearby factories and shipyards. The town began to decline in the 1970s as the factories closed down and the residents moved away. Today, Dogtown is a mostly residential area with a few small businesses.
