Big Pine is a census-designated place (CDP) in Inyo County, California, United States. The population was 1,350 at the 2010 census, up from 1,311 at the 2000 census. Big Pine is located at the western end of the Owens Valley, between the Sierra Nevada and the White Mountains. It is on U.S. Route 395, the main highway through the Owens Valley.

The town of Big Pine is an gateway to the Sierra Nevada for many visitors. It is a popular starting point for hikers and backpackers headed into the Sierra. The John Muir Trail, which runs from Mount Whitney to Yosemite National Park, passes through Big Pine. The town is also home to the annual Big Pine Creek Fishing Derby, which attracts anglers from all over California.

Big Pine has a long history in the Owens Valley. The area was first inhabited by the Paiute Indians and later settled by ranchers and farmers in the late 19th century. The town was originally known as Big Pine Flat, but was renamed Big Pine in 1916. Today, Big Pine is a thriving community with a variety of businesses and amenities.
