Solano County, California is a county located in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 413,344. The county seat is Fairfield. Solano County comprises the Vallejo-Fairfield, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland, CA Combined Statistical Area.

The county is located in the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. It is the second most populous county in the region after Santa Clara County. Solano County is adjacent to Marin County and Napa County to the north, Contra Costa County to the east, and San Joaquin County and Sacramento County to the south.

Solano County has a Mediterranean climate with cool, wet winters and hot, dry summers. The average annual rainfall is 24 inches (610 mm). Winters are cool and wet with temperatures falling below freezing on an average of 9 nights per year. Summers are hot and dry with an average of only 3 days per year with temperatures exceeding 90 °F (32 °C).
