Pollock Pines is a census-designated place (CDP) in El Dorado County, California, United States. The population was 3,330 at the 2010 census, up from 2,560 at the 2000 census.
The town is located in the Sierra Nevada mountains, on the south side of Highway 50 between Lake Tahoe and Sacramento. It is home to several ski resorts, including Snow Summit and Bear Valley Ski Resort.
The area around Pollock Pines was originally inhabited by the Maidu and Washo Native American tribes. The town was named after James A. Pollock, who settled in the area in 1852.
logging was the primary industry in Pollock Pines for many years. However, tourism has become increasingly important in recent years, due to the town’s proximity to both Lake Tahoe and Sacramento.
There are several hiking trails in the area, as well as opportunities for fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities. Pollock Pines is also home to a number of businesses and restaurants.
