Kings County, California is a county located in the Central Valley of the U.S. state of California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 152,982. The county seat is Hanford. Kings County comprises the Hanford-Corcoran, CA metropolitan statistical area.
The county is named after the English city of Kings Lynn in Norfolk.
Kings County is agricultural; its primary industries are dairy farming and livestock raising. It is also a major center for agriculture-related industries such as food processing and distribution, crop cultivation and pest control. The county is home to several large dairies, including Tulare Dairy and Hanford Dairy.
Kings County is also a major center for the production of renewable energy, particularly solar power. Solar farms in the county include the 250-megawatt California Valley Solar Ranch, the 150-megawatt Lost Hills Solar Farm, and the 75-megawatt Desert Sunlight Solar Farm.
