Castroville CDP is a census-designated place (CDP) in Monterey County, California, United States. The population was 5,099 at the 2010 census, up from 4,637 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Salinas metropolitan area.

Castroville was founded in 1848 by Swiss/German immigrant Theodore Castro. He named his rancho after his birthplace, Sainte-Croix-les-Roches, Switzerland. By 1870, the town had a population of 500 and grew to 1,000 by 1885. The town’s growth was spurred by the establishment of nearby Pajaro Valley Air Base in 1941 and Fort Ord in 1957.

The 2010 United States Census reported that Castroville CDP had a population of 5,099. The racial makeup of Castroville CDP was 3,958 (77.8%) White, 94 (1.8%) African American, 58 (1.1%) Native American, 224 (4.4%) Asian, 8 (0.2%) Pacific Islander, 613 (12.0%) from other races, and 252 (4.9%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1,715 persons (33.8%).
