Oakville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Napa County, California, United States. The population was 3,712 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Napa, California Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Oakville was founded by George Yount in 1847. Yount built the first log cabin in the Napa Valley and is credited as the valley’s first permanent settler. He established a vineyard in 1839, which was the first commercial vineyard in California.

The Oakville post office opened in 1856.

The 2010 United States Census reported that Oakville had a population of 3,712. The racial makeup of Oakville was 2,582 (69.6%) White, 22 (0.6%) African American, 24 (0.6%) Native American, 312 (8.4%) Asian, 5 (0.1%) Pacific Islander, 775 (20.9%) from other races, and 138 (3.7%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1,754 persons (47.2%).
