Rancho Calaveras is a census-designated place (CDP) in Calaveras County, California, United States. The population was 3,761 at the 2010 census, up from 2,961 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Greater Sacramento metropolitan area.
The Rancho Calaveras CDP includes the unincorporated community of Valley Springs, which has a population of about 2,000. Valley Springs is the commercial center of the Rancho Calaveras CDP.
Rancho Calaveras is located in southern Calaveras County at 38°10′59″N 120°37′23″W / 38.183°N 120.623°W / 38.183; -120.623, at an elevation of 839 feet (255 m). It is bordered to the north by the city of San Andreas, the county seat. To the northeast it is bordered by Mokelumne Hill. To the east it is bordered by Copperopolis in Tuolumne County. To the south and southwest it is bordered by Angels Camp in Calaveras County. To the west it is bordered by Glencoe in Stanislaus County.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the Rancho Calaveras CDP has a total area of 14.3 square miles (37 km2), all land.
