Tulare County is a county located in the central San Joaquin Valley of California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 442,179. The county seat is Visalia. The county is named for Tulare Lake, which was once the largest freshwater lake west of the Great Lakes.
The county includes part of Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon National Park. It is also home to the world’s largest tree, General Sherman.
Tulare County is a major agricultural center, with crops including grapes, citrus, cotton, almonds, and tomatoes. It is also home to several large dairy farms.
Tourism is also a major industry in the county, with visitors coming to see the giant sequoias and other attractions.
