About Castro Valley CDP, California
Castro Valley is a census-designated place (CDP) in Alameda County, California, United States. As of the 2010 census, it was the fifth most populous unincorporated area in California and the twenty-third most populous in the United States. The population was 61,388 at the 2010 census.
Castro Valley is named after Don Guillermo Castro, a Californio ranchero who owned much of the land which would become Castro Valley. First known for chicken ranching, Castro Valley eventually became a bedroom community.
Today, Castro Valley is a diverse community with a strong sense of community. It is home to excellent schools, parks, and recreational facilities. The town has a thriving business community and is home to many regional and national businesses.
