About Sugarloaf Village CDP, California
Sugarloaf Village is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 2,535 at the 2010 census, up from 1,780 at the 2000 census. It is located approximately 25 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
Sugarloaf Village is an unincorporated community which consists of several small neighborhoods. The largest and most well-known is Sugarloaf, which is located on the north side of State Route 18. Other notable neighborhoods include Baldwin Lake, Big Bear City, and Erwin Lake.
The Sugarloaf area was originally inhabited by the Serrano people. In 1845, the first European settlers arrived and established a cattle ranch. The community was later named after the nearby Sugarloaf Mountain.
Today, Sugarloaf Village is a popular tourist destination due to its close proximity to Los Angeles and its many attractions. The community is home to several hotels, bed and breakfasts, and restaurants. Visitors can enjoy hiking, fishing, and camping in the nearby San Bernardino National Forest.
