Ripon is a city located in the San Joaquin Valley in California. The city has a population of just over 14,000 people and is known for its agriculture and dairy industry. The city is also home to several historical landmarks, including the Ripon Courthouse, which is the oldest active courthouse in California.

Ripon was founded in 1849 by a group of settlers from New York. The city was named after the town of Ripon in Yorkshire, England. The city grew rapidly during the Gold Rush era and became an important stop on the Butterfield Stagecoach route.

Today, Ripon is a thriving community with a strong agricultural base. The city is also home to several schools and colleges, including the University of California, Merced.
