Burney CDP, California is a census-designated place located in Shasta County. The population was 2,694 at the 2010 census.

Burney CDP is located at the junction of State Route 299 and State Route 89. It is approximately halfway between Redding and Mount Shasta City.

The area around Burney CDP was originally inhabited by the Pit River tribe of Native Americans. The first European settlers arrived in the 1850s, and the town was officially founded in 1856.
