About Cahuilla Reservation, California

The Cahuilla Reservation is located in Southern California and is home to the Cahuilla people. The reservation was established in 1876 and covers a total of 9,760 acres. There are around 1,200 members of the Cahuilla tribe living on the reservation. The Cahuilla people have a long history in Southern California, dating back to the early 1600s. The Cahuilla language is a part of the Uto-Aztecan language family and is closely related to the languages of other tribes in the region, such as the LuiseƱo and Cupeno. The Cahuilla tribe is known for their basket-weaving and pottery-making traditions.
