About Clearlake Oaks CDP, California

Clearlake Oaks is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lake County, California, United States. The population was 3,140 at the 2010 census, up from 2,502 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Clearlake, California micropolitan statistical area.

The town is located on the north shore of Clear Lake, at an elevation of 1,303 feet (397 m). It is surrounded by the Clearlake Oaks County Park.

The town was originally known as Oaks, and under the latter name was laid out in 1856 by William B. Ide, the leader of the Bear Flag Revolt. The post office opened in 1857, and the name was changed to Clearlake Oaks in 1893.
