About Coarsegold CDP, California

Coarsegold is a census-designated place (CDP) in Madera County, California, United States. The population was 1,840 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Madera–Chowchilla Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The town is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, about 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Fresno. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.2 square miles (8.3 km2), all of it land.

The first post office at Coarsegold opened in 1874.
