About Concord city, California

Concord is the largest city in Contra Costa County, California. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 122,067 making it the 8th largest city in the San Francisco Bay Area. Concord is located about 30 miles (48 km) east of San Francisco. It is considered a suburb and is part of the East Bay region.

The city was founded in 1869 by Dr. Robert Semple, a pioneer and Civil War veteran. It was originally named “Todos Santos” (“All Saints”), but was later renamed after the town of Concord, Massachusetts. Concord grew rapidly during the early 20th century and became a major manufacturing center for the canning industry. The city’s economy shifted away from manufacturing after World War II, but it still remains an important retail and commercial center for Contra Costa County and other parts of the Bay Area.
