French Camp is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Joaquin County, California, United States. It is located on the western side of the county, near the city of Stockton. The population was 2,372 at the 2010 census.

The community was founded in 1834 by French Canadian trappers and was originally known as “Camp des Français”. The name was later shortened to “French Camp”. The town is home to the oldest continuously operating tavern in California, La Grange.

French Camp is located at 37°54′22″N 121°17′35″W / 37.90611°N 121.29306°W / 37.90611; -121.29306.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.4 square miles (3.6 km2), all of it land.
