Kings Beach CDP, California is a census-designated place (CDP) in Placer County, California, United States. The population was 3,796 at the 2010 census. Kings Beach is located on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. It is about 21 miles (34 km) northeast of Auburn and about 96 miles (154 km) northeast of Sacramento.
Kings Beach was developed in the 1920s as a tourist destination. It is named for its location on the south side of Kings Beach State Recreation Area. The recreation area includes a large public beach, picnic areas, and a boat launch. Kings Beach is also home to the North Tahoe Public Utility District offices and the main post office for the north shore of Lake Tahoe.
