About Knights Landing CDP, California

Knights Landing is a census-designated place (CDP) in Yolo County, California, United States. It is located on the west bank of the Sacramento River in the northern Sacramento Valley, approximately 15 miles (24 km) northwest of downtown Sacramento. The population was 1,737 at the 2010 census.

The community is named after Peter Knight, who settled in the area in 1844. A post office operated at Knights Landing from 1858 to 1859. The town was a landing for riverboats until the construction of the Knights Landing Bridge in 1911.

Today, Knights Landing is a small community with a rural feel. However, it is within easy commuting distance of Sacramento and other larger cities in the region. The community is home to a number of parks and recreational facilities, as well as several businesses and services.
