Mammoth Lakes is a town in Mono County, California, United States. The population was 3,097 at the 2010 census. Mammoth Lakes is located on the edge of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in the Inyo National Forest. It is home to Mammoth Mountain, a popular ski resort, and several other alpine lakes.

The town of Mammoth Lakes was originally incorporated as a mining town in 1877, but its economy shifted to tourism after the construction of the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area in the 1960s. Today, Mammoth Lakes is a popular destination for both winter and summer recreation. In winter, visitors come to ski and snowboard at Mammoth Mountain, which has one of the highest ski elevations in North America. In summer, visitors come to hike, mountain bike, and fish in the many lakes and streams in the area.
