Mountain Mesa is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,395 at the 2010 census, up from 1,146 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Bakersfield Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Mountain Mesa is located in central Kern County, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. It is bordered to the north by Lamont, to the east by Arvin, to the south and west by unincorporated areas of Kern County. California State Route 58 passes through Mountain Mesa, leading northeast 25 miles (40 km) to downtown Bakersfield and west 46 miles (74 km) to Tehachapi.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Mountain Mesa has a total area of 3.1 square miles (8.0 km2), all of it land.
