Oceano CDP, California is a census-designated place in San Luis Obispo County, California, United States. The population was 7,286 at the 2010 census, up from 5,592 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Five Cities Area, a cluster of cities in that county on the Central Coast of California. Oceano is the only one of the five with a substantial Latino majority in its population.
The economy of Oceano is based largely on tourism and agriculture. The beaches are popular for surfing, fishing, and camping, and there are several dune buggy rental companies in the area. The sand dunes are also used for off-road vehicle recreation. There are several vegetable farms in the area which provide fresh produce to local restaurants and markets.
