Plainview CDP is a census-designated place located in Tulare County, California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,015. The community is located near the city of Visalia.
The area around Plainview was first settled by ranchers and farmers in the late 19th century. The community was originally known as “Rattlesnake,” but was later renamed to Plainview. The name comes from the fact that the area is located on a plain between two mountain ranges.
