About Rainbow CDP, California

Rainbow CDP, California is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Diego County, California, United States. The population was 3,435 at the 2010 census. Rainbow is located on State Route 78, between the cities of Oceanside and Escondido.

The community of Rainbow was established in the late 19th century. The area was originally inhabited by the LuiseƱo people. In 1823, the Mexican government granted Rancho San Luis Rey de Francia to Joaquin Estrada. This ranch included the land that is now Rainbow.

In 1886, George and Sarah Hazzard bought Rancho San Luis Rey de Francia. They built a house and planted crops on the land. The community of Rainbow began to grow around the Hazzard’s homestead.

Today, Rainbow CDP is a growing community with a population of over 3,000 residents. The community is home to several businesses and amenities, including a grocery store, gas station, schools, and parks. Rainbow CDP is a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
